Absolutely. Blacksburg Physical Therapy Associates provides your physician with progress reports on an ongoing basis so they can track your progress from beginning to end.
Blacksburg Physical Therapy Associates works with most of the top insurance companies and will gladly bill your insurance for services rendered. We can verify that we accept your specific insurance with a quick call to us. There are instances where some services or programs are not covered by insurance, and we will do our best to keep you well informed of your financial obligations for the services you receive. Generally speaking, fitness, wellness, and performance enhancement programs are not covered as part of most insurance plans, despite their high value to your overall health.

Each visit is individualized and custom-tailored depending on condition and individual needs and preferences. Most appointments last 30-60 minutes.
We ask that you arrive 30 minutes early for your first appointment to fill out some brief paperwork. In order to expedite the process you have the option of filling out the necessary paperwork online prior to your appointment. Just follow this link, and it will direct you to the proper forms. We dislike paperwork as much as you do, but want to learn as much as possible to provide the best treatment. Your first appointment will last from 45-60 minutes during which we will ask about your past medical history and your current symptoms. We will ask you to go through some basic motions to see where your limitations may be, and this will guide your treatment, so please wear comfortable, loose clothing and footwear that will allow you to move freely. Please bring your insurance card and photo ID for us to copy and the prescription from your physician if they gave you one. We will call to verify physical therapy insurance benefits and suggest that you do the same. If the patient is under 18, a parent should accompany them for the first visit.
The length of treatment is highly variable based on diagnosis, the severity of your impairments, past medical history, etc. A comprehensive recovery plan with estimated frequency and duration of treatment will be determined by your physical therapist at your initial evaluation. Your progress will be consistently monitored and your treatment will be adjusted as needed. We also maintain close communication with your physician to optimize your rehabilitation outcomes.
Payment is due at time of service. Co-pays and deductibles will be collected from patients with insurance, with balance billed directly to insurers. Full payment will be collected from uninsured patients unless a payment plan has been prearranged. Major credit/debit cards are accepted.
In most cases, we will directly bill your insurance company for their portion of payment. Your portion (co-pays and deductibles) will be collected at the time of service. If you receive services “out-of-network”, we will collect your payment each visit and provide you with appropriate documentation for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Your payments will be estimated and discussed with you at your first appointment.
We are open Monday through Friday 7am - 6pm BLACKSBURG LOCATION , 8am - 5pm by appointment CHRISTIANSBURG AND RADFORD LOCATIONS. Hours may vary to accommodate your needs.
In most cases, no. However, there are certain conditions that are inherently painful and a return to movement can cause a temporary increase in discomfort. Our goal is to make the rehabilitation process as painless as possible while still maximizing your outcomes. Pain can also be an excellent indicator of what to do and what to avoid. Communication with your therapist is crucial. Please speak up and let your therapist know how you are tolerating your treatment and they will indicate if your discomfort is “normal” or if treatment techniques need to be modified. Remember, we can’t optimize your treatment if we don’t know how you’re feeling.
Please do not wait until your symptoms are severe before you see a physical therapist. Usually patients recover more quickly the earlier they receive treatment. If your injury is causing you discomfort, reducing your performance, or causing you worry, you should be seen.
Wear comfortable, preferably loose-fitting, clothing and comfortable footwear to your sessions. Example: shorts for knee, ankle problem, tank top for shoulder neck problem. You may be asked to change into a gown or clothing that we have on hand if your clothing restricts movement or visibility required by your physical therapist.
